Arrival in Fort Cochin

Upon arrival at Cochin Airport, a warm welcome and transfer to Fort Cochin, a former Portuguese trading post with a rich colonial heritage. Check-in at your hotel, located in the heart of the historic district where Portuguese, Dutch, and British influences intertwine. Today, Cochin stands out as a dynamic artistic capital, attracting creators and art lovers, offering a pleasant contrast to the hustle and bustle of other Indian metropolises.

Exploring Fort Cochin

A day dedicated to exploring the historic district of Fort Cochin. Visit St. Francis Church, the oldest European church in India, the Indo-Portuguese Museum, and the Dutch Palace. Discover the famous Chinese fishing nets along the waterfront, the Jew Town neighborhood, and its synagogue. Immerse yourself in the unique cosmopolitan atmosphere of this city.

Journey to Palakkad

In the morning, enjoy free time to stroll through the picturesque streets of old Cochin. Why not experience the benefits of an Ayurvedic massage at a city clinic? After lunch, depart for Palakkad, a transit town nestled between the Western Ghats and the Malabar Coast. Arrive in the evening and check in at your hotel.

Coonoor

This morning, travel to Coonoor, a charming hill station in the Nilgiris, the "Blue Mountains." This region is famous for its vast tea plantations and preserved colonial atmosphere. Check in at your hotel in the early afternoon, followed by an orientation walk in the town to soak in its peaceful ambiance.

Steam Train Ride and Exploring Ooty

Early morning departure for a unique experience aboard one of India’s last steam-powered rack-and-pinion trains. The scenic journey between Mettupalayam and Coonoor offers breathtaking views of the tea fields. In the afternoon, an excursion to Ooty, a British-era hill station at 2,250 meters altitude, including a visit to the Government Rose Garden. Established in the 19th century, this garden boasts over 20,000 varieties of roses from around the world, blooming between March and June. Overnight in Coonoor.

Journey to Mysore

A long travel day to Mysore, the former capital of the Maharajas. En route, stop at Theppakadu Elephant Camp in the heart of Mudumalai National Park, a magical experience for all ages. Upon arrival, take an introductory stroll through Devaraja Market, renowned for its stalls selling incense, silks, and sandalwood products.

Mysore

In the morning, enjoy a guided tour of the extravagant Mysore Palace, a jewel of Indo-Saracenic architecture and the second most visited site in India after the Taj Mahal. In the afternoon, choose between visiting the historical site of Srirangapatna and its fortress or exploring the archaeological sites of Somnathpur and Talakadu.

Hassan

Today, travel to Hassan with two possible routes: either via the Tibetan refugee settlements of Bylakuppe and the Namdroling Monastery or via the Jain pilgrimage site of Shravanabelagola with its colossal statue of Gomateshwara. Overnight in Hassan.

Journey to Hampi

This morning, visit the temple complexes of Belur and Halebid, masterpieces of Hoysala architecture from the 11th and 12th centuries. These temples are renowned for their exquisitely detailed stone carvings, where each decorative element is sculpted with remarkable precision. Then, head to the transit town of Davangere. Arrive in the evening and stay overnight.

Arrival in Hampi

Depart for Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Check-in at the hotel and take your first exploration of this ancient Vijayanagara Empire capital, filled with temples and stunning landscapes. In the late afternoon, climb Matanga Hill to witness the sunset over the ruins.

Exploring Hampi

A full day dedicated to exploring Hampi in depth. Guided visits to its main monuments, including Virupaksha Temple, Hemakutam Temple, Krishna Temple, Badivinlinga Temple, and the grand Narasimha statue. Also, discover Achyuta-Raya Temple, the royal palace, and the ancient elephant stables.

Badami

Travel to Badami, the former capital of the Chalukya dynasty. The afternoon is dedicated to discovering this fascinating site, famous for its 6th-century rock-cut temples carved into red sandstone cliffs. Explore four sculpted caves dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu, and Jain Tirthankaras, adorned with remarkable bas-reliefs. Visit the archaeological museum, then climb to the fort for a panoramic view over the rugged cliffs and Agastya Lake.

Aihole and Pattadakal

A day excursion to the UNESCO-listed sites of Aihole and Pattadakal. These extraordinary architectural complexes showcase the evolution of Chalukyan art, which influenced South Indian architecture. The temples display a unique blend of North and South Indian styles.

Journey to Chorla Ghat

A long travel day through changing landscapes to reach Chorla Ghat, a mountainous region at the intersection of Karnataka, Goa, and Maharashtra. This preserved area in the Western Ghats harbors exceptional biodiversity and offers a peaceful natural retreat.

Benaulim

Travel to Benaulim, with optional visits en route to three historic colonial mansions: Figueiredo House in Loutolim, Menezes Braganza House in Chandor, and Palácio do Deão in Quepem. These estates bear witness to Goa’s rich Portuguese heritage. Arrive in Benaulim in the evening.

Benaulim

Free days to enjoy the beach at Benaulim, one of Goa’s most beautiful and serene coastal spots. Despite its popularity, this beach has retained its authentic charm. Options include water sports, seaside walks, or simply relaxing by the Arabian Sea.

Departure

Free morning to enjoy the beach one last time. Depending on your flight schedule, transfer to Dabolim Airport. End of this remarkable journey through South India, filled with cultural discoveries and authentic encounters.
