Exploration of Mysore

In the morning, visit the magnificent palace with a English-speaking private guide, a masterpiece of Indo-Saracenic architecture and the second most visited site in India after the Taj Mahal. Stroll through the Devaraja market, filled with the scents of incense and spices. Overnight in Mysore.

Departure for the Nilgiris

Today, depart for the Nilgiris, literally the "Blue Mountains", a mountain range located in Tamil Nadu, known for its tea plantations. On the way, stop at Somanathapura to admire an architectural and sculptural masterpiece from the Hoysala dynasty. A final stop may be planned at the elephant camp in Theppakadu, nestled in the Mudumalai National Park, an enchanting experience for all ages. Arrive at your host's place in Gudalur in the late afternoon.

Immersion in Tea Plantations

A day immersed in the world of tea. Accompanied by local pickers, you will participate in the tea leaf harvest and learn about traditional green tea production. You will also be introduced to the preparation of plantain banana crisps. Enjoy lunch with the local staff, providing an authentic experience of daily life.

Departure for Nagarhole National Park

Today, travel through the dense forests of the Nilgiris to reach Nagarhole National Park, known for its great biodiversity and big cats (leopards, tigers). Arrival by late morning. In the afternoon, embark on a 4x4 safari to observe chital deer, sambars, elephants, gaurs, dholes, monkeys, and many birds. If lucky, you may even spot tigers! Your guide will maximize your wildlife viewing opportunities. Return to your accommodation by the Kabini River.

Kabini

Start your second day in the reserve with a boat excursion. This outing offers a different perspective on the park, allowing you to spot crocodiles, waterfowl, and occasionally herds of animals coming to drink at the water's edge. In the afternoon, embark on a jeep safari for another opportunity to observe wildlife in its natural habitat. Overnight by the Kabini River.

Bylakuppe - Hassan

Today, leave the reserve to head to Hassan. A complete change of scenery awaits with the discovery of the Tibetan refugee camp in Bylakuppe, one of the first camps established in India after the massive Tibetan exile in 1959. Visit the Namdroling Monastery, a vibrant and spiritual place. You can observe the monks in their daily rituals and soak in its peaceful atmosphere. Continue on to Hassan, where you will arrive in the early evening.

Hoysala Sites

This morning, head to Halebid, the former capital of the Hoysalas, previously mentioned in Somanathpur. Built in the 12th century on the edge of an artificial lake, the Hoysaleshwara Temple captivates with its exceptionally fine sculpted friezes. Nearby, don't miss the Jain temples, where the interior pillars gleam like mirrors. In the early afternoon, visit the Chennakeshava Temple in Belur, where you can witness ceremonies before sunset. Return to Hassan.

Shravanabelagola - Bangalore Airport

Transfer to Bangalore airport. Depending on your flight time, a stop at the Shravanabelagola site may be planned. This sacred Jain site, famous for its monumental statue of Gomateshwara, one of the largest monolithic statues in the world, is perched on the Vindhyagiri hill. Its serenity, historical significance, and ancient inscriptions make it a must-visit. The 600-step climb offers a panoramic view of the surroundings.
