Why plan your Kerala trip with a local agency on the ground?

Planning a Kerala trip from a distance quickly raises one question: who are you actually talking to, and who will take care of you once you arrive? With a local agency based in India, the answer is simple — the people who put your itinerary together are the ones running it on the ground, and you deal with them directly, before and during your trip.

Local expertise, first-hand. We're on the ground all year round: we know the roads, the seasons and the places to stay because we've visited them ourselves. That on-the-ground knowledge — impossible to gain from an office on the other side of the world — turns into sound advice: the right stop at the right time, the address that makes all the difference.

A 100% tailor-made trip. Nothing is off-the-shelf. Length, stops, accommodation, pace, budget: every Kerala tour is built with you, around what you want, and fine-tuned until it feels like yours. You travel privately, with a private driver, at your own pace — not to a group's timetable.

One dedicated contact, from first message to your return. A single point of contact who answers you directly, and a team you can reach on the ground if anything comes up. No booking centre, no middleman: direct contact, a fair price, and the reassurance of knowing someone is looking out for you throughout the trip.

Kerala in brief: what to see and do

Kerala runs along a narrow strip between the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats, and it's this concentrated variety that makes it an ideal choice for a first trip to South India: distances stay short, and the scenery changes fast.

The backwaters. Kerala's most famous image: this maze of canals, lagoons and paddy fields that you glide through by houseboat, usually from Alleppey or Kumarakom, around the great Vembanad Lake. A night on board, drifting on the water, remains the highlight of the trip for many.

Munnar and the mountains. Up in the hills, Munnar unrolls slopes carpeted with tea plantations, cool air and views that stretch for miles. The nearby Thekkady (Periyar) reserve adds wildlife and spice plantations to the mix.

Fort Kochi. On the coast, the old town packs centuries of blended history — Chinese fishing nets, the Jewish quarter of Mattancherry, colonial facades — into a warren of streets best explored on foot.

Ayurveda. Kerala is the birthplace of Ayurvedic medicine, and we organise genuine stays in Ayurvedic centres, tailored to what you're looking for: from a week-long wellness break — massages, treatments and downtime to unwind — through to an in-depth therapeutic panchakarma cure, supervised by Ayurvedic doctors. An experience to fold into your tour, or to enjoy as a trip in its own right.

And to finish on a gentle note, the beaches: the cliffs of Varkala or the calm of Marari make for a wonderfully easy end to the journey.

Kerala trip: frequently asked questions

Best time to go, how long to stay, budget, Ayurveda… the essentials for planning your Kerala trip with peace of mind.

When is the best time to visit Kerala?

The best time to visit Kerala runs from December to February: this is the dry season, with sunny days, and the most reliable window across the state as a whole — February being the pick of the months. November and March are fine too, but more unpredictable. From April to October, the monsoon brings frequent rain to most of Kerala; it is, however, the most favourable season for Ayurveda cures, and prices are lower.

How long should you plan for a Kerala trip?

Plan for at least ten days or so to enjoy Kerala without rushing: enough to combine Fort Kochi, the tea plantations of Munnar, the Periyar (Thekkady) reserve and a night on a houseboat in the backwaters, then a few days to relax on the coast. In two weeks, you can add an Ayurveda cure or extend into a neighbouring state — Tamil Nadu and its temples, or Karnataka (Mysore, Hampi). As our tours are built to measure, the length adjusts to your pace and your wishes.

How do you get to Kerala? Which airport?

Kerala has three international airports: Cochin (Kochi), the main gateway with the widest network, Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram) in the south and Calicut (Kozhikode) in the north — the latter mainly connected to the Gulf. There are no direct long-haul flights, so you usually connect via a Gulf hub (Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi) or a major Indian city (Delhi, Mumbai). For a longer trip in India, you can also reach Kerala by train from Goa or Karnataka. We arrange your transfers and itinerary from whichever arrival airport suits you best.

Is Kerala a good destination for families?

Yes — Kerala is one of the best regions for a first family trip to India: distances stay short, the scenery changes fast, and the activities appeal to all ages. A bike ride in Fort Kochi, a night on a houseboat in the backwaters, a safari in the Periyar reserve in search of wildlife, meeting elephants — always a highlight for children —, Chinese fishing nets at sunset, a Kathakali performance: the programme adapts easily to their pace. We tailor the stages, the accommodation and the tempo for a comfortable family trip.

Where can you do an Ayurveda cure in Kerala?

Kerala is the birthplace of Ayurveda, with centres all across the state. The most sought-after — and often the most expensive — are by the sea, especially around Kovalam and Varkala, prized for their setting. But many inland centres, in the hills and plantations, offer treatments of equal quality — supervised by Ayurvedic doctors — at more affordable rates. Depending on whether you prefer the beach or nature, and on your budget, we point you to the centre that fits best, whether for a short wellness break or an in-depth panchakarma cure.

What budget should you plan for a tailor-made Kerala trip?

The budget for a tailor-made Kerala tour depends mainly on the standard of accommodation, the type of transport, the length of the trip and the activities chosen (Ayurveda cure, safaris, guides on certain stages…). Since every trip is built to order, rather than quoting a standard price we offer a personalised quote at a fair price, direct and with no middleman. Contact our local team: together we'll fine-tune the itinerary and budget around your priorities.

Do you need a private driver to get around Kerala?

Kerala's roads are tiring to drive yourself, and buses and trains eat into your time — so a private car and driver is by far the most comfortable and flexible way to explore. Through our agency you travel with an experienced, English-speaking private driver, and on cultural stops we can arrange a guide. Above all, you have on-the-ground support 7 days a week: one contact you can reach directly, from arrival to departure.
